Integrating generative AI into your cybersecurity strategy is a pivotal shift in how organizations protect their assets. Jeethu Patel, executive vice president and general manager of security and collaboration at Cisco, said that if AI is not built into cybersecurity frameworks, adversaries will be far ahead of the curve.

“In the short term, people overestimate the impact, but in the long term, they significantly underestimate the impact,” Patel said. He emphasized that while AI hasn't changed our daily lives dramatically in the past few months, things will change dramatically over the next decade, and advanced protection is now needed.
“If you don’t have natively built AI in your defenses, you’re giving the adversary an advantage,” he said.
“This is the first time I think we can see a light at the end of the tunnel where the Defenders may have an advantage, primarily because of the data and the architecture that we have put in place and implemented,” Patel said. “Security requires new architectures, but the data benefits that AI can provide defenders and defenders with will be significant and will continue to grow in value.”
In a video interview with Information Security Media Group at RSA Conference 2024, Patel also said:
- Proactively integrate AI into your cybersecurity strategy.
- Challenges facing security professionals as AI tools proliferate.
- Cisco's commitment to investing in AI.
Patel, who has led Cisco's Security and Collaboration business since August 2020, has led Box's product and platform strategy for more than five years and is responsible for the company's long-term vision and roadmap for cloud content management in the enterprise. I have set it up.
