RUSTON, Mich. – Louisiana Tech gave up a run late in the eighth inning to defeat Western Kentucky in a series sweep. Louisiana Tech (38-15, 15-6 CUSA) defeated WKU (32-19, 13-8 CUSA) 7-1 on Sunday morning at JC Love Field at Pat Patterson Park.
WKU took the lead on Blake Cavill's ground ball to take a 1-0 lead into the first inning. Tech pitcher Grant Habka went on to pitch 4.2 scoreless innings (H, R, 5 BB, 2 K). Sam Brodersen also pitched 3.1 innings (H, 2BB, 5K). After six scoreless frames between Tech and Western Kentucky, Tech tied the game on Ethan Bates' solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Late in the eighth inning, Tech gave up six unanswered runs. Cole McConnell hit a two-RBI single to start the scoring, which led to Jorge Corona's RBI single, sending McConnell home. In the end, Michael Ballard and Adarius Meyers had two RBIs to close out the game and give LA Tech a 7-1 lead.

Louisiana Tech heads to Virginia for Liberty with a chance to win the conference title. His first appearance is scheduled for Thursday, May 16th at 5 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN+.
