An internet outage in the middle of a video game session ended Saturday night with a man smashing his fist through a wall and a free driver giving him a ride to a local jail, according to a police report.
Maricopa police charged 23-year-old Anthony P. Rohde with domestic violence charges after his father told police a fight broke out at the family's home on North Herbert Avenue in Homestead at 6:45 p.m. I was arrested.
According to his father, Rohde was upset that his Wi-Fi connection was not working properly. The next thing he knew, he heard a loud bang and saw a fist-sized hole in the wall. He provided video footage to support his story.
Rohde told police he was trying to play video games with a friend when his internet connection suddenly went out. Rohde said he plans to cool his head, have a drink and get the Wi-Fi working again. But once he got up, he admitted that punching the wall felt like a better game, according to the police report.
Rohde was booked into the Pinal County Jail, where he will spend the next six months.
