The National Weather Service reported late Sunday morning that snow was falling at a rate of 2 to 3 inches per hour in Park and Teller counties.
In a social media post, the NWS Boulder office advised against driving on Central Mountain Road.

State Route 285 over Kenosha Pass was closed in both directions starting at 7:30 a.m. due to stranded vehicles, the Colorado Department of Transportation said. No description of the vehicle was provided and the highway reopened shortly after 10 a.m., but a rockfall was reported by CDOT in the southbound lanes near the top of the pass at 12:45 p.m.
One social media poster showed a photo of more than a foot of snow falling overnight in Alma, near the Continental Divide between Breckenridge and Fairplay on Highway 9.

A low-pressure system began moving through Colorado from the southwest on Saturday, according to CBS News Colorado meteorologist Joe Ruch. It brought quite a bit of humidity. Snow is expected to continue in the mountains and showers in the Front Range and lowlands of eastern Colorado into late Sunday night.
But sunny skies should bring temperatures back into the mid-70s on Monday and Tuesday.
The storm clouded the state's night sky, preventing most residents from seeing the aurora borealis on the second night.
