The Jackets took the lead in the top of the first inning on Black's single. Domingue reached on an error, but she and Black both went 60 feet and grounded out. Gary was hit by a pitch, resulting in two outs and bases loaded. The FSU pitcher threw a wild pitch, allowing Black to score, but the FSU catcher returned to the plate and teamed up with Domingue, ending the inning 1-0. Boyles smashed a leadoff double to keep the bottom of the first inning scoreless and give Tech a one-run lead in the first frame.
The score remained 1-0 until the fourth inning, when the Jackets again loaded the bases on a single by Hunter, a walk by Allen, and an error by Sileo.Black secured 61cent He scored an RBI while staring down the fourth pitch, leading to a score before the Seminoles grounded out to end the inning 2-0. Tech's pitching staff struggled in the bottom of the fourth inning, allowing FSU to score nine runs on two home runs, including a grand slam. They scored one more run in the bottom of the fifth inning, securing a run-rule victory.
