quick response
The Houston Dash and Kansas City Current will face each other on Sunday for a midweek game after a lengthy weather delay. Both coaches were vocal about the long delay and its growing impact on the team ahead of a speedy recovery. KC's current coach, Vlatko Andonovski, specifically said: various challenges His team will be hanging on for a game against Seattle Reign FC.
“We have a lot of things scheduled for training in Seattle, so we won't be able to do that,” Andonovski said after Sunday's game. “Obviously, we lost a whole day of opportunity to recover. So, like I said, the schedule is already tough from the start. We have by far the worst schedule in the league. However, this made the situation even worse.”
Travel wasn't a concern for Houston, as the Dash will host Gotham FC on Wednesday, but Dash head coach Fran Alonso was also mindful of pregame delays and quick responses. The first-year coach said in pregame comments that Gotham had an extra day to recover and that the team's message was conveyed on video throughout the week, with an emphasis on analysis, to allow the players to focus on their recovery. He said this in his pre-game comments.
