In recent years, the likes of Fallout, The Last of Us, and Super Mario Bros. have been successfully adapted for screens both large and small. DreamWorks Animation, the film studio behind popular animated films such as Shrek and Kung Fu Panda, is partnering with media company Story Kitchen to produce an animated film based on a video game, according to reports. By doing so, it is reported that they are riding on the large trend of adapting video games into originals.
The deal was first announced by Deadline, who announced that DreamWorks Animation and Story Kitchen had formed a “partnership.”strategic partnership” will produce an animated film based on a video game. “We are thrilled to be working with DreamWorks Animation as SK's first official film partner since its launch in 2022.Story Kitchen advised in a statement:

The 2023 Super Mario Bros. animated film ended up being the most financially successful video game film adaptation of all time, making animation studios (especially those with critical and commercial success like DreamWorks Animation) Partnering with a studio with a strong track record is a smart move.
