Story Kitchen specializes in adapting video games and unconventional IP for film and television, quickly establishing itself as a creative force in universe building and franchise development. Founded in 2022, Story Kitchen has quickly made a name for itself in the industry. Recent projects include an adaptation of Crystal Dynamics. Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft and 2021 Game of the Year 2 required For Amazon. The latter is still in the development stage.
A team-up between DreamWorks Animation and Story Kitchen makes perfect sense. DWA has a long history of producing popular animated films, including: shrek, kung fu panda, madagascarand how to train a dragon, to name a few. Given the success of recent video game adaptations, fall out TV programs and The Last of Us, It's not really surprising that DWA feels the genre is ripe for investment.
As of this writing, no game adaptations in development have yet been announced. But this partnership promises an exciting new era for companies and fans alike. In the film industry, I feel that we may be entering the era of video game adaptations.
