Looking to run a squad but missing one member? The SIMA (Scalable, Instructable, Multiworld Agent) AI that Google DeepMind is exploring may be just the thing for you.
SIMA is an AI tool that aims to mimic and complement human gaming behavior without being too dominant.
as a sharer The Verge, SIMA essentially allows you to master any video game, including vast open-world games, by understanding natural language and 3D environments with image recognition capabilities. “SIMA is not trained to win games,” said Tim Harley, a researcher at Google DeepMind and his co-director of SIMA.
SIMA currently has around 600 basic skills, including navigation and menu use, and will receive training in other basic gaming functions as well. To that end, Google is collaborating with game developers such as his Hello Games, Embracer, Tuxedo Labs, and Coffee Stain. The AI tools are trained on games such as: no man's sky, tear down, Valheimand goat simulator 3.
“Our AI agent doesn't need access to the game's source code or bespoke APIs. It only requires two inputs: an on-screen image and simple natural language instructions provided by the user.” writes Google in a blog post.
It's worth noting that SIMA is still in the research phase, but efforts are being made to ensure that teams don't have to run with one less player. “Ultimately, our research builds toward more general AI systems and agents that can understand and safely perform a wide range of tasks in ways that are useful to people online and in the real world.” Google writes.
