CAA Softball Weekly Awards – May 6th
Richmond, VA (May 6, 2024) – CAA announces the final Softball Weekly Awards for the 2024 season. All three honorees are from North Carolina, which will host the 2024 CAA Softball Championship later this week. Elon sophomore outfielder Maury Murray was named CAA Player of the Week, and Campbell redshirt junior Isabella Smith earned her fourth CAA Pitcher of the Week award this year. Additionally, UNCW freshman outfielder Cassidy Relay was named CAA Rookie of the Week for the second time this spring.

Sophomore | Outfield | Marvin, North Carolina / Marvin Ridge
Murray batted .700/.727/.1200 with six RBIs and six runs scored to lead Elon to a victory over Drexel over the weekend. The sophomore outfielder had at least one hit, one RBI and two runs scored in all three games of Elon's final CAA series. Additionally, Murray had two multiple hits and scored multiple runs in two games. In her series opener, she went 4-for-4 (her career-high number of hits) with a triple, three RBIs, and two runs scored. In Game 2, Murray went 1-for-3 with a home run and a walk, two RBIs, and a double, and in the final game of the series, he went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and an RBI.

Isabella Smith, Campbell
R-Junior | Raleigh, North Carolina / St. David's School
Smith made the save to make it 2-0 inside the circle, leading Campbell to a weekend sweep of Delaware State and the CAA regular season title. The right-handed pitcher started all three games, pitched again and got the last two outs in the final game of the series, pitching a total of 17.2 innings. Smith had a 0.40 ERA, 18 strikeouts, allowed just six hits, and held opponents to a .103 batting average. The redshirt junior pitched a one-hit complete game victory in the series opener, including a seven-inning punchout, and in Game 2, he earned eight Ks and pitched a two-hit shutout. She started Game 3 and slammed the door on her, giving Campbell its first CAA regular season title in any sport.

Freshman | Outfield | Colts Neck, New Jersey / Colts Neck
Relay hit .333 and scored one run, helping UNCW defeat Monmouth in the final game of the CAA series over the weekend.The freshman hit safely in two games, including 10 hits.th This season, he has a lot of hits. Additionally, she was perfect on the field, recording three outs and one assist in four chances, posting a fielding percentage of 1.000. She went 2-for-3 with one RBI in the series opener, and had one RBI in her first at-bat after the Hawks' error. She followed up her efforts with a 1-for-3 at bat in the final game of the season.
