We always know a side from our creators. Maybe two or three. But what we don't know is their entire inner world. There was always something I wanted to do or an idea I was interested in, but for some reason I just couldn't develop it.. That's pretty normal, and the world of video games is no exception. This was demonstrated by his CEO of Level-5, a studio known for children's and youth games.
recently, Japanese Publications Den Faminico Gamer Interview with Akihiro Hino and Goichi Suda. The reason for this is the 25th anniversary of the founding of the studio where Mr. Hino is the CEO of Level Five and Mr. Suda is the CEO of Grasshopper Manufacture.. A very strange combination, but only justified on this common anniversary, since the two companies could not be more different. Level-5 specializes in RPGs and action games for young adults. Grasshopper Manufacture creates all kinds of games with a more experimental, mature, and violent atmosphere.
Still, Hino expressed his admiration for Suda and Grasshopper Manufacture in an interview. “Creators who come out with such edgy titles are amazing,'' he says, adding with a laugh, “To put it in the extreme, I'd also like to make something erotic.'' Games and games with violence intended for adults over 18 years of age. ” When Suda asked, “Are you thinking about anything?'' Hino answered, “Yes.'' This is because he “has an 'abnormal world' within himself.”
What is interesting is that The research led and founded is known for doing just the opposite.. Level-5 is known for making games for all kinds of audiences; Including Yokai Watch, Professor Layton, Inazuma Eleven, Ni no Kuni. His RPG and puzzle games with a focus on family and great attention to design and art.
That doesn't mean Level-5 isn't working on a slightly different game. Their contributions to Guild01 and Guild02, two microgame collections for the Nintendo 3DS, are interesting experiments in RPG, survival horror, and puzzle concepts.. Mecha games such as “Megaton Musashi'' are praised as excellent action games. And their upcoming game DecaPolice promises to be a combination of JRPG and adventure in a cyberpunk world, and has no problem handling a slightly darker atmosphere without ever going too far with the gory stuff.
Furthermore, although these are not his most famous works, Hino has worked on dark and violent games in the past. In 1994, he was the lead programmer for the 3DSO interactive multiplayer cult title Doctor Hauzer. This title is considered one of the pioneers of survival horror, in the vein of Alone in the Dark.. He will also reprise his role in Overblood and will direct Overblood 2. Overblood 2 is a short-lived survival horror series for the PSX that wasn't well-received. The first game was almost entirely programmed by Mr. Hino, and he participated as the director, writer, and planner for the entire game in the sequel.
That's why it's no surprise that Hino added the following: Ultimately, he wants to create a game set in that dark, surreal world.. He says he'll do it when “Level 5 is stable and there's room to do what we want.”
Maybe it needs to be done outside of Level 5. Maybe he can't do it. But what's clear is that Hino has a very dark and strange game in mind, and it's completely different from what he usually does at the company.. Whether we'll ever see it is a mystery. But what is clear is that we would love to see what someone with Hino's solid and impressive track record can do in the field.
