Hawaii hitter Keoni Timme announced on social media Monday that he is entering the transfer portal ahead of his final year of college men's volleyball.
Tim is a 6-foot graduate of Kalani High School who went to Santa Barbara Community College and then the University of California, and he hustled for the starting job after Spiros Chakas was injured midway through the 2024 season.
“Hey everyone. This is my official announcement that I am entering the transfer portal today,” Tim wrote on his Instagram Story. “God has given me this opportunity. Of course I will let people know my reasons behind this. Until that day, God bless you.”
To partially offset his large size disadvantage at the net, Tim possessed explosive leaping power and serve ability that matched his energetic bursts after the point.
Despite losing in five sets against Long Beach State on March 16, Tim still led the way with 20 kills. He had a season batting average of .303 and 40 service aces. He was sixth on the team in points per set with 2.11.
She had 11 kills and eight digs in a season-ending loss to UC Irvine in the Big West semifinals at the Stan Sherif Center.
“Video guys are terrible. Be great. Everyone, we love you and your ohana,” middle Kurt Nasterer, Thiem's good friend and training partner for the past two years, wrote on his Instagram. I wrote that in a post on the gram.
Thiem primarily served as a serving specialist when UH won the NCAA Championship in 2022, and again in that role when the Rainbow Warriors returned to the National Championship Match in 2023.
California State University is expected to have a strong recruit. So far, they have signed five players for the 2025 signing class, including 6-foot-5 hitter/opposite Finn Carney, a member of the U.S. U19 National Team, opposite 6-5, and France Includes Adrian Rule 6-8 and Opposite 6-8. Christian Titlisky from Bulgaria.
Three UH players earn AVCA All-America honors.
For the first time in eight years, the Hawaii men's volleyball team did not have a player on the AVCA All-America first team.
However, three UH players continued to be recognized, as senior middle Guilherme Fosu made the AVCA second team, and setter Tred Rosenthal and opposite Alakai Todd were named honorable mentions.
This was Vos' third career All-American honor. He was named to the AVCA First Team in 2023 and Second Team in 2022.
Todd was a reserve player for UH until this season, and Rosenthal was a true freshman.
The last time the Rainbow Warriors were without a first teamer was in 2016.
