Many local government boards skip meetings during the last week of the month or the first week of the month. This week I happen to have both, so my schedule is light. But local officials are still grappling with important issues, particularly in Chapel Hill, where Mayor Chris Blue is expected to present a proposed budget to the Town Council.
Here's an overview of local government meetings being held this week in Durham, Orange and Chatham counties.
orange county
orange county commissioner We will meet for a work session at the Southern Welfare Center on Tuesday, April 30th at 7pm. Commissioners will hear from a consultant about the county's long-term land use plan. You will receive a presentation regarding the Piedmont Food Processing Center Management Services Agreement. and will be considered for appointment to various county commissions and commissions. of chapel hill city council Town Manager Chris Blue is expected to present a recommended budget for next year. The budget is $156 million, a 4% increase from last year, and includes a 6% salary increase for town employees and a 2-cent proposal. Increasing property taxes as part of a five-year strategy. In addition to the proposed budget, the council will also consider amending stormwater management requirements in the town's Land Use Management Ordinance. of Chapel Hill-Carrboro Board of Education Board members will review a memorandum for school resource officers (SROs) next school year and discuss the final report of the high school daily schedule evaluation. Get the full agenda at this link.
