United Airlines and Southwest Airlines on Tuesday issued travel alerts and offered free reservation changes for Colorado travelers ahead of a winter storm that could dump several feet of snow across the region this week.
The incoming storm is expected to dump up to 20 inches of snow at Denver International Airport and up to 4 feet of snow in some areas of the Front Range foothills and mountains, according to the National Weather Service.
United Airlines has issued travel alerts for airports in Denver, Colorado Springs, Aspen, Vail/Eagle, Gunnison and Steamboat Springs from Wednesday through Friday. The airline also issued alerts for Casper and Laramie, Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Southwest Airlines also issued travel warnings for airports in Denver, Colorado Springs, and Steamboat Springs on the same day.
United Airlines customers who purchase tickets by Sunday and are scheduled to travel on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday can reschedule their travel through March 19 with no fees or fare differences.
The alert says customers in the South West can rebook or take standby trips up to two weeks from their original travel date at no additional charge.
