NFL: The Kansas City Chiefs will consider options including leaving Arrowhead Stadium after voters in Jackson County, Missouri, flatly rejected a sales tax initiative that would have paid for renovations to the 52-year-old building. It's a plan.
The Chiefs and Royals, who share Kauffman Stadium with the football stadium and Truman Sports Complex, rely on the three-eighths cent sales tax to pay for their upkeep. The teams wanted to extend that tax money, with the Royals using their share to build a new ballpark downtown and the Chiefs envisioning an $800 million renovation of Arrowhead.
After the campaign faced criticism from all quarters, more than 58% of voters rejected the sales tax initiative.
