Jamestown entertained Clarence on Friday night in an Erie County Interhigh Conference 1 baseball game under the lights at Deesrick Park.
Clarence's offense had a big showing, but the Red and Green weren't going to give up without a fight and lost 18-10.
Jamestown's offense was led by Caleb Piazza, who scored three runs on four hits. Dom Weber had three hits and two RBIs, and Chase Bonta had two hits and two RBIs.
The Red & Green (0-6, 0-6) sent three pitchers to the mound, with Anthony Rodriguez and Owen Glover pitching three innings each and Kyle Falkowski pitching one inning.
Clarence (5-5, 3-4) leadoff hitter Matthew Gunshaw had three hits, including a double, and scored two runs. Finnegan Graham had three hits, a double and three runs scored. Thomas Luke had three hits and five RBIs.
Georgios Krentos was the winning pitcher for the Red Devils, pitching just four innings.
Cougars beat Eagles
SINCLAIRVILLE — The Cougars came out victorious in a pitching battle between Cassadaga Valley and Chautauqua Lake on Friday.
Hunter Johnson pitched 6 1/3 innings, striking out 15 batters and allowing two hits and three walks before his heroics in the bottom of the eighth inning. With two outs and runners in scoring position, Johnson's single drove home Logan Heyward, securing a 3-2 victory in the Chautauqua-Catalogus Athletic Association Division 2 game.
Devin Hughes also pitched seven innings for Chautauqua Lake, striking out 15 while walking two and allowing just one earned run on five hits.He left the game with just seven innings and 15 strikeouts. . Bottom of the 8th inning.
After Cassadaga Valley scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth, the Eagles extended the game in the top of the seventh.
Chautauqua Lake took the lead in the first inning with a walk by Hughes and stole second base before Nate Henry advanced to third base. Henry then followed with a steal and Clayton Smith hit a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring both Hughes and Henry.
Henry homered as Cassadaga Valley's right fielder retired from the play.
Chautauqua Lake's offense (4-4, 4-2) answered Cassadaga Valley's sixth inning with a double by Brad Windnagle and an RBI by Greg Edson that knocked him home. Edson then hit an RBI home run off Calvin Hilliker for a 2-0 lead.
The Cougars (3-3, 3-2) offense finished with a double by Windnagle, two hits by Hilliker and singles by Owen Pierce and Edson. Mason Rose finished the match on the hill and got the win just as Johnson checked out.
Gowanda slug passes through Randolph
RANDOLPH — Carter Capozzi and Madden Ray hit home runs and Gowanda defeated Randolph 11-5 in Division 3 play.
Capozzi went 2-for-4 with three hits and an RBI, while Jaden Fisch went 2-for-5 for the Panthers (8-1, 7-0), who scored five runs in the top of the fifth inning. By then they were leading 4-2. Logan Ruff and Brayden Smith combined for seven strikeouts on the mound.
Tristan Farnham went 2-for-3 with a double and three runs scored. Bryson Pitts had two hits and one RBI. Wyatt Weaver doubled for the Cardinals (0-10, 0-7). Farnham and David Malone combined for six strikeouts on the mound.
