Weird, artistic and alternative video games abound at Day of the Devs, a free event celebrating indie games at Midway on Sunday, March 17th. From 3pm to 8pm, the San Francisco venue will feature a variety of games. Different types of consoles are available and participants can roll up and get in on the action at any time.
Some Day of the Devs games haven't even been released yet, so this event is a great chance to find your next favorite before it becomes an indie favorite. Highlights include products from Amanita Design; phonopolisis a puzzle game rendered in 2D steampunk-style animation where the objective is to thwart an authoritarian ruler who exercises mind control over the townspeople.Blue Manchu's work comes from a completely different aesthetic world. wild bustersis a Technicolor first-person shooter set in an intergalactic outlaw world that promises “heart-pounding” combat.
Some games test a player's strategy and speed, while others include: surf club It's a story about an emotional journey. Adorable animation (think Sanrio encounters) animal crossing)'s nostalgic game follows Holly as she returns to her hometown of Olive Bay and attempts to reunite with her ex-partner and best friend while riding the waves in an idyllic seaside setting.
Not all of the recent video game news has been positive as layoffs have swept the industry, but Day of the Devs is creating a space for small developers to connect IRL with the most passionate players. and provide a space for casual gamers to learn about new studios and platforms. A total of 50 games will be participating in the event, and many creators will be in attendance and available to answer questions. A selection of food trucks will be available to help players refuel during screen breaks, and DJ Doseone will provide the soundtrack while people mingle.
