Jamison Pelt's football season ended early due to injury.
But the Swan Valley sophomore showed he can play more than just football, helping the baseball team to a dominant victory over Otisville and Lakeville in Thursday's doubleheader.
In the opening game, a 6-3 win, Pelt went 2-for-2 with two hits, one RBI, and a walk. Colton Cline earned the win with four strikeouts and three earned runs in six innings.
In the 13-3 Game 2 win, Pelt went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs. He pitched four innings and had four strikeouts.
John Mayette and Brady Stevens led the offense with three hits each, with Mayette scoring three runs and Stevens scoring three runs. Joey Miller was 2-for-2 with two hits, two RBIs, and one walk.

Midland 1-6, Bay City Western 6-1: Midland and Bay City Western met in a Saginaw Valley League doubleheader, with Western winning the opener with five runs in the eighth inning. Midland's Brett Fazio pitched 6 1/3 innings and allowed just one run. Brady Vannest led Midland's offense with two hits, including a double. Midland scored four points in the first inning of the second game. Vannesto won with 5 hits and 4 strikeouts in 6 innings. Grayson Lamp led the Chemix with three hits, and Adam Haag and Eli Kell each added two hits.
Sanford Meridian 15-16, Farwell 0-0: Reece Teer, who took the win on the mound, led Meridian with two hits and four runs scored in the first game. Wyatt Olmstead had two hits and two RBIs, and Robbie Edwards added two RBIs. In the second game, Tia had two more hits and scored three runs. AJ Holsinger, Olmstead and Jace Burns each scored two points.
soft ball
Midland High School 17-16, Bay City Western 3-0: Grace Schroup achieved her 600th career strikeout in the opening game with 12 strikeouts, no hits, and no runs allowed in five innings. Addie Edwards and Hayden Purvis led the offense with four hits each, and Morgan Stewart scored three runs. Taylor Sequin earned the win with six strikeouts in four innings. In the second game, Purvis led the offense with three hits, and Haley Worsley added two hits. Maggie Frazee had three RBIs.
Alma 6-0, Central Montcalm 5-15: Chloe Hallock and Tegan Adams each had two hits and two RBIs for Alma in Game 1, with Madison Myers getting the win and Eliana Rodriguez getting a save.
women's tennis
Hemlock 8, Ithaca 0: Hemlock swept Ithaca, with Sophia Hauf, Carly Siler, Victoria Hauf and Anna Nürnberg earning singles victories. Hemlock doubles winners included Claire Beck vs. Allie Watson, Kylie Miller vs. Jadyn Marek, Alasia McMillan vs. Brooke Swanson, and Lily Wenzel vs. Aubrey Biermann.
