The 3rd Annual Carvd N Stone (CNS) Loren Martin Hintz Travel Writing Scholarship is now accepting applications.
The contest asked Milwaukee writers between the ages of 17 and 29, based on the theme, “What lesson did you learn during your travels that you've incorporated into your daily life? And why?” We encourage you to write an 800 word essay. CNS awards her $1,000.
The CNS Lauren Martin Hintz Scholarship annually honors Lauren Martin Hintz's award-winning career as she traveled the world capturing unique people and moments in words and photographs. The focus of this scholarship is to promote and encourage the next generation of travel writers. Whether you're an aspiring journalist or just have a passion for travel and writing, the Lauren Martin Hintz Scholarship is a great opportunity to showcase your skills and win an award.
CNS was approached by Mr. Hintz's son, Steve Hintz, to launch a travel writing scholarship in 2022.
Shawn Horton, a recent graduate of Milwaukee Public Schools, was awarded the second annual CNS Lauren Martin Hintz Travel Writing Scholarship. Mr. Horton was awarded $1,000 based on his 800 word essay about where he would go if he could travel anywhere in the world.
Applications will open at 9:00 AM CST on April 17, 2024 and close at 12:00 PM CST on May 17, 2024. Winners will be announced in June.
To apply, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
- Lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
- 17-29 years old and
- Submit one 800-word essay that fits the 2023 theme.
