The Wharton County Commissioners Court is meeting a little earlier on Monday to accommodate the dozens of area high school students who will be at the courthouse annex for the local school district's Commissioner's Day.
The court will begin sitting at 9 a.m. instead of its usual 9:30 a.m. session.
El Campo students will begin the tour at 9 a.m. from Commissioner's Court, followed by students from Louise, Bowling and East Barnard, and the final group from Wharton will enter in order.
The tour also includes stops at the polling place, AgriLife Extension office, jail, and historic courthouse.
County commissioners will also vote on possible approval of an interlocal cooperative agreement between Wharton County and the City of Wharton for detention services for Wharton inmates at the county jail.
The city would collect $65 per inmate per day, billed monthly.
The committee's agenda also includes two separate items to auction off 11 vehicles in May.
The first involves listing three salvage or surplus vehicles and one confiscated vehicle at the Victoria Auto Auction on May 9, and the second at www.govdeals starting Friday. Including listing 6 salvage or surplus vehicles and 1 confiscated vehicle for online public auction at Amazon.com. , from May 10th to Monday, May 20th.
Vehicles include a 2013 Ford F-150, 2014 Dodge Ram 1500, 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2012 Chrysler Town & Country, 2017 Ford Explorer, two 2020 Chevrolet Tahoes, and a 2020 Dodge. -Includes three Durangos and a 2006 International. Model 430.
The court will also vote on the possibility of approving the purchase of a diesel tank not to exceed $30,000 using American Rescue Plan Act funds for the First Precinct.
Commissioners will meet at the Wharton County Courthouse Annex, 309 E. Milam in Wharton.
