Video games currently cost around $70, so most players don't think, “I wish I could pay a little more…”
But one former video game executive believes gamers want developers to chip in.
Well, not only do these people think you should tip your waiters, delivery drivers, baristas, hairdressers, etc., but you should also tip video game developers.
Mike Ybarra, former president of gaming giant Blizzard Entertainment and former Xbox executive, pitched the concept to X last week.

While he acknowledged that most people aren't fans of the tipping idea, he said the idea could allow players to support a game they are “in awe of.”
“As a player, I've been thinking about this idea for a while, as I've been really into single-player games lately,” Ybarra began in a tweet posted on April 11.
“Some games, when you win a game, you’re just in awe of how amazing the experience was.
“At the end of the game, I often thought, 'I wish I could give these guys another $10 or $20,' because it was worth more than the first $70 and I wasn't trying to make a dime every second. ”
Comparing this to a tip at a meal, a 20 percent tip on a $70 bill would be $14.
The former video game executive added: “Games like HZD, Gou, RDR2, BG3, elden ring,Such. I know $70 is already a lot, but this is an option I wish I had at the end of the game. Some games are special.
“I know most people hate this idea. 🙂 By the way, I realize we're tired of “tipping” on everything else – but I'm not sure if this I believe that this is different from the pressure to tip type of scenario that many people face and give feedback. ”

Since then, many gamers have flocked to the video's comments section to share their thoughts, and their feelings are admittedly mixed.
“If you're not tipping independent developers, aren't you really just giving money to publishers? Are developers paid a flat rate?” one person asked. .
“Larian is the only game studio that deserves a tip, but even if they did, it would feel more disrespectful and impersonal,” a second added, while a third said, “The game is good and it doesn't live up to our standards.” I like this idea as long as it meets the following criteria.'' , there should be an option to tip studios and developers. ”
