OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – The JU women's rowing team will be competing in the SIRA regatta in Oak Ridge this weekend.
The annual Southern Collegiate Rowing Association (SIRA) race takes the Dolphins to Melton Hill Lake just west of Knoxville for a weekend of competitive racing.
“This is the culmination of a long, hard year and hard work for many of our athletes,” the head coach said. mike lane. “For our final regatta, most of our team will be traveling and trying to get as many athletes in the race as possible, so we are excited for the group of women who will have the opportunity to represent JU Women's Rowing! Plus, I'm looking forward to seeing our MAAC boats continue to improve and grow with the lessons learned last weekend in Philadelphia!”
A week ago, JU entered three boats in the grand final of the Knecht Cup Regatta. The Dolphins' 1-4 and 2-4 both earned silver medals, and their 1-8 finished fourth, which JU hopes will be the foundation for a weekend like SIRA.
“Racing is the fun part and competing against other athletes from all over the country is something you can't recreate in practice. I'm excited to support the ladies in what will be a tough battle at Oak Ridge!”
