Traveling solo to Disney World is my specialty, friends.
When I went on my first adult trip in 2021, I was 20 years old and wanted to make sure nothing was going to get in the way of me, myself, and doing the things I wanted to do. I did. After that, I fell in love with the concept and experience of going solo and haven't looked back since. However, there are some parts of Disney World that are a bit awkward to be alone in, and one of them is the food. If you are going on a solo trip to Disney World soon, I'll introduce you to a restaurant where I didn't feel awkward even if I was alone!
First of all, I would like to say that Disney World cast members never made me feel awkward being alone. Often it's all in your head, but that doesn't mean it doesn't feel very real.try to remember that Everyone is focused on their day, so why you're alone probably doesn't cross your mind.
quick service restaurant
When eating alone, I always go to quick service spots. because There's no need to book meals in advance or take into account that there's only one person attending ((No problem!), check with a cast member, then gather all your family and friends to eat together. My personal favorite quick service spots are:
- sunshine seasons (EPCOT) — It's very open with lots of seating options.
- Sleepy Hollow Refreshment (Magic Kingdom) — It's the exact opposite here. There is very little seating, but you can have a snack and sit in a beautiful area a little further away.
- Ronto Roasters (Disney's Hollywood Studios) — Again, there's very little seating here, but you can sit in random spots around Galaxy's Edge and feel like you're eating in a hurry before your next intergalactic mission. It makes me feel good (…just me?)
- Saturi Shokudo (Disney's Animal Kingdom) — Similar to the Epcot spot, this restaurant has ample indoor and outdoor seating, making it much easier for families to sneak into the place and grab a cheeseburger pod (I can't eat it). You can enjoy it. My last trip and I'm still sad)
And while this next option isn't exactly quick service, it's not table service either. Therefore, we include it here. Don't consider a festival booth at EPCOT Festival! All of these areas have very limited seating, so you'll often see everyone sitting where there's room for them. Plus, you can buy little things from multiple booths to make it the most amazing meal ever.
plus, Epcot is considered the most “adult” park of the four parksTherefore, you are probably the most likely to see solo travelers like you.
table service
now If you're looking for a more upscale meal or just looking for something with a little more quality, you might want to go to a table service spot.. This is not something I personally do, but chatted with a colleague She also travels to Disney World by herself a lot, so she gave me some recommendations. She likes to eat at restaurants that have an adjacent lounge with bar seating. Walk-up seating is usually available (especially if you're looking for her one seat), and these lounges usually offer the same menu, or at least a shortened version of the menu.
- Citricos Lounge (Grand Floridian Resort & Spa) — This luxurious spot serves Florida cuisine mixed with Mediterranean flavors. The lounge offers the same menu as the restaurant and our dinner here never disappointed us.
- Tambu Lounge (Disney's Polynesian Village Resort) — According to several members of our team, this is a top-notch lounge. The atmosphere here is tropical, and really, who doesn't want a drink served with pineapple from time to time?! It's also very popular that you can try popular menu items from the table service spot “Ohana” right next door.
The good thing about the lounge is that The smaller your party, the easier it will be to get seated quickly. So being a party of one here is great and actually gives you an advantage in some ways. This is also a great method Try great food from these restaurants at slightly lower prices (And who doesn’t want to try “Ohana Noodles”?! I’ll definitely have to end up trying it on my next visit).
All in all, I can totally understand being scared to eat alone in a huge dining spot at Disney World, or somewhere where you feel like the odd one out. But don't let fear stop you from doing what you want to do, or in this case, what you want to eat. Make the most of your solo trip and check all these things off your bucket list. I paid a lot of money to go there, Don't get caught up in other people's opinions.
