On Wednesday, the Commanders welcomed four top quarterback prospects on the same day. Whatever the reason (the best explanation we could come up with is that the owner was available for a day to meet with them), Estimated 2nd overall pick — LSU quarterback Jaden Daniels — might not have been happy about that.
His agent, Ron Butler, reposted the article. PFT Live Clip about square dancing with the quarterback Emoji of a man thinking about something.
So what are agents thinking? And what is Daniels thinking?
Coincidence or not, Butler made it known Thursday morning that the Vikings were running the operation. Private training with Daniels In Baton Rouge, the day after his visit to Washington.
This situation has led to speculation among league officials that Daniels may not want to play as a manager. If so, would managers still use him at No. 2?
Even before this morning, some thought the managers wouldn't end up acquiring Daniels.
The team's options would be to trade out on the spot or simply acquire another player. As managers weigh their options and compare and contrast the four visiting players Wednesday, what if the powers that be take something from Daniels other than an obvious desire to be the team's next quarterback? ?
It's difficult for players to make power plays in public. It's safer to be cautious. Appearing uninterested. Refuse requests for private training.
Have the commanders had private training with Daniels? Not a single case has been reported. If there is, why would his agent publicly practice with the Vikings rather than with the manager?
This is all food for thought. While this may irritate some Commanders fans, it is a byproduct of the decision to have four top quarterbacks visit on the same day.
And please, this is not the same as Bill Belichick bringing in a bunch of offensive linemen at the same time. This is one of the most important decisions the Washington franchise has made in decades. They're obviously going to come out of Round 1 with a quarterback. Will Daniels be second? Is there someone else in second place? Or maybe someone else in a lower position?
We'll all know within a week. Before that, try to figure out which direction the quarterback draft winds are blowing.
