I have to talk about this Australian. star wars outlaws Pricing.
If you haven't seen any of the grumbling on social media yet, please let us know. After Ubisoft released the first Story His trailer, star wars outlaws Last week, it was also announced that pre-orders had begun for the game's August release date. A total of five different editions are currently available in Australia. they are:
- standard version
- Special Edition (EB exclusive, includes Kessel Runner Bonus Pack, Trailblazer Spaceship Cosmetics, and Speeder Cosmetics)
- Limited Edition (JB exclusive, but includes the exact same pre-order kit as the EB exclusive above lol)
- Gold Edition (includes season pass and 3-day early start)
- Ultimate Edition (includes Rogue Infiltrator bundle, Sabaac Shark bundle, digital art book, season pass, and 3-day head start)
This is too many editions, I think you will agree.
Currently, prices for many of these editions start at AU$109 (although JB and Amazon have reduced the suggested retail price to $89, and Mighty Ape is poised to drop to $79) . An RRP of $109 is… well, pretty high, but it's also considered an unfortunate new normal for Australian AAA video game releases. The EB and JB “limited editions” are also priced the same as the standard editions (and when comparing the two, the JB edition is the obvious choice; it has exactly the same bonuses as the EB edition, and is $20 cheaper is).
Where it gets weird is the Gold Edition and the Ultimate Edition. For the Gold Edition, which also includes the season pass and his now-standard three-day early start on the “official” release date, it'll be $169 wherever you go. The price of the Deluxe Edition is an amazing $200, which is the same kit as the Gold Edition with a few extra skin packs.
I'm using Ubisoft games to spotlight this, but I think they expected them to make some changes to the pricing. Of course, they're not the only publisher trying this kind of thing. WB Games takes the exact same multi-layered approach to their titles. In it, the unsustainable business of AAA games is exposed. Over the past 12 months, as margins have shrunk, budgets have ballooned, and demands for ROI have only increased, major publishers have all revived pre-order strategies to turn FOMO and impatience into pre-order dollars. I did. The 3 day old mark is not a new strategy. They've been doing it for years! This new trend of pushing the release date back by three days was of no use to anyone but the publisher.
And then there's the familiar punch line. All content available on these star wars outlaws Editions of season pass content, bonus skins (including “exclusive” skins) will be included in the inevitable Game of the Year edition, which will be released one year after launch. As always, this set will be half the price of the standard edition release price.
Be patient and you'll win the day (and save money if you find yourself in a cost-of-living crisis).
Of course, if you absolutely want a copy on release day (I know what you know) Star Wars Fans think so, we get it), here's a list of the cheapest copies. I'll keep updating it all the way up to release, so bookmark it in case you find someone below Mighty Ape. Even if we can't help you resist the temptations of the dark side, we can at least help you not succumb to it for $110.
