- I-95 southbound 126 exit ramp and Route 1 southbound:
A second right-turn lane is being constructed from the Interstate 95 southbound exit ramp at Exit 126 to Route 1 southbound. Route 1 southbound has been widened from the exit ramp to South Point Parkway, adding a right-turn lane. A second right-turn lane will be added from southbound Route 1 to South Point Parkway. Traffic islands will be installed along South Point Parkway as a safety improvement, allowing left turns into driveways, but restricting through and left-turn traffic exiting side streets. A right-turn lane has been added to Route 1 southbound South Point Parkway. The project is expected to be completed in August 2025. - Route 3 and Orange Plank Road: Utility relocation is underway in advance of construction to change the intersection of Route 3 and Orange Plank Road. Shift to new traffic patterns to increase safety, improve traffic flow and reduce collision points. The project is expected to be completed in spring 2024.
- Route 17 (Mills Drive) Viaduct Replacement and Widening: Construction began in December 2020 to replace the existing two-lane interstate viaduct on Route 17 with a four-lane bridge. Route 17 is widened to four lanes to just east of the Hospital Boulevard/Germanna Point Drive intersection. As part of this project, shared paths, sidewalks and pedestrian crossing facilities will be installed. Completion of the project was scheduled for late February 2024, but now the project is scheduled to be completed in May 2024.
- Route 208 (Courthouse Road) and Hood Drive: Hood Drive will be reduced to one lane between Route 1 and Route 208 (Courthouse Road) to northbound traffic only. Southbound traffic should follow the detour marked along Courthouse Road and Route 1 southbound. A future Veterans Health Administration clinic will be built, and new turn lanes are under construction. Additional turning lanes will be constructed on northbound Hood Drive approaching Courthouse Road. Raising the median on Hood Drive will separate northbound and southbound traffic between Courthouse Road and McGowan Drive. Sidewalks, crosswalks, and pedestrian crossing equipment will be added to the intersection. The project is expected to be completed in July 2024.
- Widening of Route 606 (Mud Tavern Road): Mud Tavern Road is being widened to four lanes between I-95 and Route 1. A new secondary access route, Route 2092, will be constructed parallel to Mud Tavern Road and connect to South Roxbury. Mill Road and Dumbbell Lane. The project is expected to be completed in May 2025.
Stafford County: Route 1: Lane closures will occur on Route 1 at Courthouse Road for permitting/public works Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
