Ollie Watkins has to be careful when making such comments about a team lacking a 'big team mentality', as the rest of the team is performing very well.
It's a big turnaround for the club to be in the top four and still have a chance of qualifying for the Champions League in fifth place. Sure, he's scoring goals, but we've seen it before when a player makes a comment when the team isn't doing too well and that's who he is. He's handled a lot of things well this season, but he has to be careful about how his words come across. These things can be spun, but they aren't always received the way they're intended.
It was expected that they would play inconsistently like Villa have recently. They have played in European competitions, which is a big shock considering the number of games they have played so far. But being in that top four position shows how well they did and had the level of performance, which was always difficult to maintain.
I think this is a big positive because if you look at other clubs who have more resources, Manchester United, Chelsea, Villa, they seem to be doing great. . We have to be careful with criticism and everyone needs to continue to give their best until the end of the season.
Even though we know that fifth place might be enough for the Champions League, you always want to finish as high as possible and they will still be aiming for a top-four spot. It will be a great season if they can qualify for the Champions League and do well in the European Conference League.
What Unai Emery has achieved since joining is amazing and I think we will continue to see improvement.
