JAMESTOWN — The Jamestown University baseball team was held to three hits, but it was Triston Madison's walk-off two-run home run that mattered in the final stretch of the team's 2-1 victory over Northwestern University on Saturday. It was just a hit. April 6th at Jack Brown Stadium
The Jimmies entered the bottom of the seventh inning trailing by one run when Jett Nelson led off the inning. On the second pitch, he saw the junior send the ball to the right and right fielder Mason Polep slide down the right field line. The very next pitch sailed over Madison's right field wall, ending the game.
On the mound, the Red Raiders' Drew Dykstra pitched over six innings, giving up two runs, including one, while striking out three batters nine and giving up a walk. The Jimmies' starting pitcher was Avery Leestman, who pitched a complete game with six hits, one run, three batters struck out, and one walk.
The Jimmies' three hits came from Ryan Museller, Jackson Bonneville and Julian Sansores.
In the top of the 6th inning, Polep hit a solo shot over the right field, giving the Red Raiders a 1-0 lead and breaking the deadlock.
