After a heartbreaking state title loss at the end of her freshman season, Warrior Run sophomore Regan Milheim set her sights on revenge and never looked back. It all came to fruition Saturday at the Giant Center.
Millheim won the 145th state championship with a 3-1 decision over Mason Berbitsky of Southern Columbia. The pair met four times throughout the postseason, with Millheim going 3-1 and winning sectional, district and state titles.
He bounced back from his loss to Balbitsky at last weekend's Northeast AA Regional, making a breakaway early in the third period to tie the score at 1-1, then scoring a brutal takedown in the final seconds for the win.
The defender had a solid rookie season, finishing the season with a record of 49-3, 21 pins, and 4 tech falls. In addition to the state gold medal, he enters his junior season with two section titles, two district titles, one state silver medal and two regional silver medals. He was three wins short of reaching 100 wins.
