Marin Catholic's men's lacrosse team trailed for much of the game, but they managed to squeeze in host Chatham in Thursday's game in New Jersey, but lost 10-7. Harrison Tyler scored three points and Jake Holmes added two. Mack Berry and Tate Sedlacek each added a goal.
Holmes drove hard to the net from the open field and scored late in the third quarter, cutting Chatham's lead to 8-6. Tyler then scored his third goal less than a minute later, spinning the ball into the net to bring the Wildcats (10-4) within one point.
Chatham added two goals in the fourth and the Cougars played a lockdown defense to secure the victory over Marin Catholic.
The Wildcats' strong run in the Garden State continues Friday against Rumson-Fair Haven.
women's lacrosse
Tam defeated Branson 16-3 on Thursday to ensure the Red Tail Hawks' playoff chances. Tam (7-7, 4-2 MCAL) is playing against Sun Marin (11-3, 3-2) and Branson (10-2, 3-2). The third-place Hawks are off until April 11, when they are scheduled to play Stevenson in a nonleague game. Tam and Sun Marine will face off in the MCAL finale.
- Novato defeated San Rafael 14-4 on Thursday. The Hornets (7-6, 2-4 MCAL) are scheduled to return from spring break on April 16 to take on league-leading Redwood. San Rafael (0-10, 0-6) has two games remaining: a nonleague game against St. Vincent de Paul in Petaluma (April 15) and the MCAL finals against Branson ( April 16).
- In the Giants' last game before spring break, Redwood (11-4) defeated Menlo 11-9. Redwood's next game on the schedule is April 16 against Novato.
boy volleyball
On Thursday, Archie Williams (14-7, 5-1) defeated San Marin in three sets for his third straight win.
- Tam lost a close first set, but then won three in a row, winning 24-26, 25-19, 25-16, 26-24 against Annalee on Wednesday. The Red Tail Hawks (11-13, 5-2) are in third place in the MCAL standings with one game left against San Marin.
college baseball
The University of Marin game against Contra Costa scheduled for Thursday was canceled due to rain. The Mariners are scheduled to play a doubleheader at home starting at 11:30 a.m. Friday.
