American Airlines ends partnership with Silver Airways: Impact on travel plans [Roundup]
News and notes on the interwebs:
- American Airlines removes Silver Airways as a codeshare partner. Silver Airways has stopped flying north of Greenville-Spartanburg Airport in South Carolina and moved all airports to the north.
They do not fly from their Miami hub in the US. They are flying within Florida, reaching several locations outside of Fort Lauderdale that are untouched by the U.S. military. And they are bleeding cash. A year ago, they were at risk of being evicted from the Fort Lauderdale hub for failing to pay rent.
- Hotels (and regulators) should note the following: More powerful showers use less water overall. Data shows that foot traffic is reduced, allowing people to stay longer. And if you really want to cut down on water consumption, install a timer, like Emirates and Etihad Airways do with their Airbus A380 first class showers.
- Dave Portnoy said the Tampa Edition Hotel is so bad that the owner should go to jail. But if you're booking a $5,000-a-night suite in Tampa, aren't you an idiot who should be in jail? Or if he has 44 million Amex points on his black card, will Schwab get his platinum and cash out the points, making it easier to spend the money?
If you don't want to hear my complaints @EDITION Hotel Please don't watch this video. However, I have to say that the Edition Tampa is the most overpriced hotel I have ever stayed at. Should be put in jail for price measurement. I don't mind paying a lot. I don’t mind messing up. pic.twitter.com/SyRraQBOV8

- The 1,501-room Ipanema Tower at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas is now home to a Hyatt. Midweek close-in fees are as low as $20, and top-tier elites have resort fees waived. Even if you're staying elsewhere, we've got the best mattress for your elite night. This time we will introduce the progress of the renovation.
Angelina immediately asked if we needed a late checkout at 4pm (a good sign!) and went over the breakfast benefits with us. Currently, the only breakfast option is Hash House Go Go, but there is no limit on how much you can order per person.
Angelina asked me if I wanted a free upgrade to a suite. She was quick to point out that even though it's a large suite (1,600 square feet), it hasn't been renovated yet. I told her I would like to stay in a renovated room.
- please wait
Fox's argument here is that Democrats want black pilots because black pilots are not competent, and that they want more accidents to scare people away from flying. This is because doing so will reduce carbon emissions and help the planet. That's what he claims. https://t.co/BBv1hzzgSL

- If you feel like you're dealing with an adversarial customer service partner, such as an airline or a company, there's little value in continuing the interaction. It's not going anywhere. Don't try to educate them. Of course, don't say they are unprofessional. Hang up, call back, and move on to someone else. (And if you keep getting the same answer, be open to the possibility that maybe that's the answer. And if multiple people are similarly frustrated, maybe you're theirs.) (You may be trying another tact to annoy him.)
@United What happened to the customer service team? Is this acceptable behavior when a customer calls to ask about a ticket that United Airlines canceled? pic.twitter.com/cMQcG73JhX
