In hopes of addressing the impact of AI on the technology workforce, the consortium aims to provide actionable insights and identify new opportunities for reskilling and upskilling. This includes leading technology companies such as Accenture, Eightfold, Google, IBM, Indeed, Intel, Microsoft, and SAP.
The consortium is currently working to evaluate how AI is changing jobs and the skills that employees need to succeed, with a focus on upskilling and reskilling roles.

AI continues to emerge only within the workplace
The first phase of the consortium's work will consist of a report with actionable insights for business leaders and employees. The findings aim to provide actionable insights and recommendations for employers looking to reskill and upskill their workforces in preparation for an AI-enabled environment.
Additionally, we aim to address the growing business-critical need for a highly skilled workforce across a wide range of AI skills. The consortium will leverage its members and advisors to recommend comprehensive, multi-stakeholder training programs to upskill workers on a much larger scale.
“We recognize that economic security and national security are inextricably linked, which is why we are proud to continue the work of the Talent for Growth Task Force with the creation of the AI-enabled ICT Workforce Consortium. ,” said U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo. “We are grateful to the members of the consortium for participating in this effort to address the new workforce needs created by the rapid development of AI. It helps provide unprecedented insight.
“We hope this consortium is just the beginning and that the private sector sees this as a call to action to ensure that their workforces can reap the benefits of AI.”
The news comes shortly after the US and UK reached a landmark agreement to partner on AI safety measures. We aim to set a precedent for businesses and world leaders alike to invest in responsible AI and drive secure digital innovation.
