Pottawattamie County officials are celebrating National County Government Month in April to showcase how the county is creating healthy, safe and vibrant communities.
The announcement was made through a proclamation at Tuesday's County Board of Supervisors meeting, according to a news release.
“The county fulfills a wide range of responsibilities, providing services that touch nearly every aspect of residents' lives,” Board President Susan Miller said in the release. “Pottawattamie County and all counties are proud of our responsibility to protect and enhance the health, well-being and safety of our residents in an efficient and cost-effective manner.”
The theme of this year's NCGM celebration is “ForwardTogether,” inspired by the distinctive focus of National Association of Counties President Mary Jo McGuire. This theme emphasizes the strong role of county governments as intergovernmental partners:

This year, Pottawattamie County is celebrating NCGM, recognizing the impact of county departments and employees who serve their communities. Pottawattamie County will refer to the celebration on social media with #NCGM throughout this month, the release states.
“We are proud of the programs and services we provide to our residents,” Miller said. “This month, we celebrate how our government connects, inspires and leads in our communities and with our state and federal partners every day.”
