Todd Smoak, Executive Director of Illinois State University's Office of Technology Solutions, was recently elected to the Higher Education User Group (HEUG) Board of Directors.
HEUG works to help agencies like the State of Illinois effectively manage administrative technology to improve the resident experience. They serve as voices for stakeholder concerns and priorities that impact vendors and software products for her more than 1,000 higher education institutions, including Illinois.
The Board of Directors is responsible for overseeing the organization's operations, finances, and legal compliance to ensure that the organization operates ethically, transparently, and in the best interests of stakeholders. .
“Being on the board gives us the opportunity to build relationships and collaborate with other universities and vendors alike. As a result, Illinois State University is able to advocate for the issues we are experiencing. , puts us in a greater position to influence future technology advancements,” Smoke said.
Mr. Smoak has worked at Illinois State University for nearly 12 years. As executive director, he oversees many of the university's core academic and administrative software systems, providing services such as learning management, enrollment, finance, human resources, and systems integration. These systems include Canvas, iPeople, Campus Solutions, Colleague, Redbird Card, and more.
