LUBBOCK, Texas — Texas Tech University has surpassed a milestone with the opening of its newest facility in Irving, in the fast-growing Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) metropolitan area.
According to a press release, the new location is near DFW International Airport and perfectly located with major subway access.
The ultimate purpose of the new facility is to provide resources for Texas Tech students living in the DFW area. It also “will serve as a hub for engaging the largest Red Raider alumni hub outside of the Lubbock area and engaging with the local community and high school students.”
It can also be rented for conferences and non-university related events.
“At Texas Tech University, we have always been focused on providing access and opportunity to students in and out of state,” said Texas Tech University President Lawrence Schovanek. “Texas Tech University DFW is a milestone in our commitment to expanding access to higher education. By offering flexible programs and individualized support, we help future Red Raiders achieve their educational goals and advance their careers. We will help you improve.”
Texas Tech University announced it will also add a training iOS lab to its new DFW building. According to the release, the lab will provide an opportunity for individuals to learn about the world of iOS app design and development.
Additionally, starting in summer 2024, TTU will launch a 10,000-person bachelor's degree completion program for individuals who have earned 80 or more college credits, with the goal of allowing them to earn a degree for as little as $10,000. The press release states that. Students with 70 or more core credits are eligible to apply for the program, but TTU warned that costs could be slightly above the $10,000 threshold.
Applications for this program will open on May 1st.
