MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – WSFA 12 News is excited to welcome our newest sports reporter to the team.
Davis Baker comes to WSFA after two years as the sports director at KTEN in Denison, Texas. During his time at KTEN-TV, he served as the weeknight sports anchor, delivering local and regional sports news from throughout North Texas and Southeast Oklahoma. He also produced and hosted regular features and football previews.
Baker is no stranger to the Southeast. A native of Georgia, Davis graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in journalism before working at KTEN. He also interned at his WRBL in Columbus, Georgia, wrote for “Bulldawg Illustrated” in Athens, Georgia and he covered his UGA sports.
Mr. Baker expressed his passion for SEC sports and his eagerness to showcase Alabama's high school, college and professional athletes.
“I'm honored and excited to join the WSFA team and look forward to working with Rosie Langelo.” “I have always had a passion for sports broadcasting and am ready to tell great stories in Montgomery and beyond,” Davis said. Now, I'm ready to team up with Rosie Langelo to profile all of the great high school, college, and professional athletes in and around Montgomery. ”
Langelo, WSFA's sports director, said he is equally excited about the launch of this new sports coverage partnership.
“I am very excited to have Davis Baker join the WSFA 12 Sports team. When this job was posted, multiple people in the industry contacted me on Davis’ behalf. He is a very hard worker. And everyone says always have a positive attitude and always be ready,” Langelo said. “When I interviewed with him, I knew I had to hire him right away. Davis is a former athletic director, so he will be a great help to me. I would like to get to know him. Please welcome him with open arms.”
