interesting alternative
It's a pretty worrying and depressing time to play games at the moment. Microsoft and Sony like to think of themselves as industry leaders, but they act more like absentee landlords. And with my current schedule, there's not much to look forward to. The best I can think of are the Elden Ring DLC and the Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door remaster. Neither is technically a new game.
My big hope is that the Nintendo Switch 2 will help brighten up this mode. It's a real shame that it was obviously postponed to next year, but not just because I'm looking forward to it, but instead of Xbox's constant pole shift of goals and Sony's stony silence, it's This is because it will be a one-time positive for the game.
Nintendo had a great year last year, when the Switch really should have been discontinued. This year has certainly been pretty quiet, but I'm still looking forward to Paper Mario and Luigi's Mansion HD. It helps that the game is interesting and fun. I think that's what we all need right now. I'm not saying the Switch 2 will save games and everything…but it might.

unstoppable force
It's painfully clear that PS5 Pro is another PlayStation VR2 situation, and Sony has been planning its development for so long that they think it would be a waste of money not to do it. I don't know if the numbers support that, but definitely not. This is simply the sunk cost fallacy at work.
I didn't expect PS4 Pro to account for such a low percentage of sales, less than 15%? If so, I really don't understand why the PS5 Pro was given the green light. It just pisses people off, creates a negative mood, and makes things difficult for developers who have to support two different models.
There's no point in discussing it though. Sony is clearly moving forward with that. I think it'll be announced in the summer, but by the time it launches in the fall we'll still be wondering why.

remember the dongle
I really like the idea of a handheld Xbox and believe there are some prototypes floating around at Microsoft's offices. However, the prototype of the TV dongle was also there for 5-6 years, but nothing materialized.
I think the biggest problem is that the market for handheld game consoles (other than Nintendo) is small. There are quite a few devices out there at the moment, but Steam Deck seems to be the leader. But in reality, it's estimated that only 3-4 million units were sold, making Xbox seem like a huge success by comparison.
If you're wondering why a publisher would support Xbox, which is about half of the PlayStation 5's user base, it's worth noting that a device that could realistically reach one-tenth of the PlayStation 5's user base would be an amazing success. Why support it?

shave the barrel
Sonic Heroes remake? How desperate will Sega get? How about a remake of Lost World or his 2006 game? It's awful, but I'm sure someone somewhere is nostalgic. Even a Sonic Adventure remake makes no sense considering how flawed those two games were, but at least those two are worth a try. Because even I feel nostalgic.
Personally, I think Sonic Frontiers is the best 3D game to date, even though it was unfairly criticized. They need to stick with it and create a sequel that solves the problem and makes things even better. All these remasters and remakes are just a distraction. Even Superstar was a waste of time, but it won't be long before we get a 3D remake that's like a redo of the original game.
The Frontiers are the new blood the franchise needed and they need to iterate and improve. Don't look back and keep moving forward.

random illness
The Dragonsprague phenomenon in Dragon's Dogma 2 seems very strange, is this intentional or is it a bug? I really don't like the idea of a game suddenly becoming super hard.
The idea of invasion is what stopped me from playing Dark Souls and similar games. You don't want all your hard work to be undone due to some random event that's out of your control. Even if it's reversible, it seems like a lot of work to resolve it.

GC: That's intentional, yes. Although it is quite rare.
Company spokesperson
When will Microsoft realize that Phil Spencer isn't cut out for Xbox? Not only is he constantly making bad decisions that hurt the company; many He has the money, but the way he uses his mouth makes me want nothing to do with Xbox at all.
Back in February, he assured fans that Starfield and Indiana Jones would not be multi-format, as if it were ridiculous to suggest that could happen. . What do you expect them to be by the end of the year? Spencer says this is happening because of a lack of growth, but what happened between February and March? , has it been so dramatic that we're now throwing away the world's subtlest hint that everything is going to be multi-format?
I just don't trust the guy. I mean, I don't trust any of the executives, but Spencer keeps repeating this folksy routine, where he pretends he's just a gamer like the rest of us, and I support it. I don't. I'd rather Microsoft put a faceless suit in charge who can do the job.
Perhaps the problem is that Phil Spencer is too much of a gamer to actually be a good businessman. I don't know, but I'm done listening to him, and until he leaves or implements enough changes that he can finally justify being in charge, I won't buy an Xbox. I'm done even considering doing it.

Archers gather
I love how the description of the new Marvel game is so similar to Suicide Squad. Is there a bad idea that publishers don't steal from each other? It's like they make the stupidest decisions and go out of their way just to shoot themselves in the foot.
It would be a different story if the game featured only characters with guns, but I highly doubt that. I think the idea is that a lot of them shoot projectiles of some kind, but the idea of making a multiplayer online shooter based on Marvel is that the game came first and then they licensed it. is clear.

understandable indifference
Developers' indifference towards PS5 Pro is understandable. The problem is the CPU, which only has a 10% boost mode to 3.85 GHz (the standard PlayStation 5 is 3.5 GHz). Otherwise, the CPUs are identical and behave the same unless in boost mode. Considering that the Xbox Series X has a CPU of 3.8 GHz/3.66 GHz (with SMT). However, these small performance benefits don't really show up in most games. Basically, the PS5 Pro is a resolution box with improved ray tracing performance. When it comes to frame rates in most games, the CPU is the main limiting factor.
Personally, I think the better option would have been for Microsoft to do it when they moved from the Xbox One to the Xbox One S. Only a 7% increase in GPU and RAM clock speeds resulted in a slight performance increase compared to the original model. If Xbox Series This allows for some performance gains without having to produce more expensive models.
These are the types of changes I like over generations. A small performance improvement that requires no additional effort by the developer.
In retrospect, the biggest mistake this generation of Xbox made was having two models with different development profiles. This strategy didn't please developers, so it's no wonder the PS5 Pro isn't welcomed with open arms.
I doubt Microsoft will repeat the same mistake with the next generation, even if handheld/hybrid devices are included. How one would develop one profile for a portable device is beyond me. But you can see it in PC games running on Steam Deck.

For those interested, the Katamari Damacy soundtrack remaster is available on Spotify. It didn't come up in the search, but if you click on Bandai Namco as the artist, it should show up.
