Thankfully, my wife and I are ready. Bugaboo Butterfly Travel Stroller teeth, run around with little humansthing. It opens quickly and easily, is light and easy to carry, and has a child weight capacity of 50 lbs. That means my 2-year-old daughter usually rides the hitchhiker, but when my 5-year-old son gets tired (or when sibling rivalry inevitably rears its ugly head), he can hop on. That's it.
All of this meant that when the Koenigs finally arrived at the gate, all four of us, including our 2-year-old, were relatively well. While the Bugaboo is a great value, there are many other travel strollers that are perfect for you. Read the full breakdown of the varieties we've tested and reviewed.

Best overall travel stroller
bugaboo butterfly stroller
Strong Points
- comfortable seating
- excellent storage space
- Wheels slide on any surface
Cons
- Footrest feels a little cheap
Butterflies are aptly named because they actually appear to float above the ground, even on grass or gravel. The seats must be particularly comfortable. Because otherwise my 2 year old would definitely have let me know in no uncertain terms. The Bugaboo's cargo space is sufficient for emergency drinks, snacks, mom's bag and dad's travel hoodie.
My kids also appreciate the sunshade canopy because it opens and closes easily and has some Irish blood on both sides. The stroller is small enough to carry on the plane, but if you decide to check it in, be sure to fold the footrest to avoid damage during transport.

Strong Points
- comfortable
- maneuverable
- folds easily
Cons
- Overmade ones are heavy and difficult to handle without a shoulder strap
There's not much to dislike about the All-City stroller. It's also considerably cheaper than the Bugaboo (in the $300 range, depending on when and where you shop).
This is a stroller with comfortable padding in the seating area and a folding mechanism that won't cause meltdowns in public (from the father, not the toddler). It's also quite maneuverable and the silky ride quality is truly impressive. The only real downside is that it weighs 17.6 pounds, which makes it quite bulky, and carrying it around without a shoulder strap can be quite a workout.

babyGap classic stroller
Strong Points
- cost effective
- surprisingly sturdy
- and amazingly stylish
Cons
- Folding lock is a little tricky
For a product that costs about $100, babyGap's Classic Stroller is better. This is a pleasant surprise for us dads, who tend to exaggerate things sometimes. (Hello, it's me. The problem is me, me.)
This stroller also has a comfortable seat with a 5-point harness and an overhead sun canopy with a peek-a-boo window so you can keep an eye on your junior. The only thing I don't like is that the folding lock on the bottom right takes a little getting used to and might irritate impatient dads…I don't know anyone like that.

The most portable stroller
Contours Itsy Lightweight Travel Stroller
The most portable stroller
Contours Itsy Lightweight Travel Stroller
Strong Points
- extra light
- fits in a backpack
Cons
- do not recline
The most minimal stroller on this list, the Contours Itsy Lightweight Travel Stroller reminds me of something my wife says every time I think about buying a new car. She pointed out the window to the old beater in the driveway and said, “Does it still spin?”
This stroller does not have a cup holder and has limited storage space. There is also no reclining feature, which may be an issue for older children. But in reality, it still spins pretty smoothly. And at just 12.3 pounds and $170, this could be a smart choice for many.

best stroller for twins
UPPAbaby G-Link V2 Stroller
best stroller for twins
UPPAbaby G-Link V2 Stroller
Strong Points
- Easy to operate
- comfortable seat
Cons
- Not allowed on board
Before having children, I knew I wanted twins. What a kind and innocent child I was. For me, only one child at a time was enough. I respect the fathers who are struggling with twins.
For you guys, Uppababy G-Link V2 stroller is a very reliable choice. I think of this stroller as the Cadillac of travel strollers. It's comfortable, smooth, and (obviously) pretty big. It's actually too big to carry on the plane, so be prepared to check. But realistically, there's very little not to like here.

The perfect stroller for city dwellers
Babyzen YOYO2 stroller
The perfect stroller for city dwellers
Babyzen YOYO2 stroller
Strong Points
- Can be folded small
- smooth ride
Cons
- Not so good off pavement
Now that I'm a full-fledged dad in the suburbs, my current problem is car seats. However, I have lived in a city for the last 20 years of my life, so I empathize very much with his concern for space. The best travel stroller for those of us who live in the city should be small and easy to maneuver. Please consider Babyzen YOYO2.
This nimble product is perfect for weaving large numbers of commuters through crowded city sidewalks. It's very small when folded and weighs just 13.7 pounds, making it easy to carry with the padded shoulder strap. The only downside is that it doesn't like rough surfaces, but as long as you avoid the potholes of New York City, it's not that big of a deal.

Smoothest handling stroller
Silver Cross Jet 3 Super Compact Stroller
Smoothest handling stroller
Silver Cross Jet 3 Super Compact Stroller
Strong Points
- devour all terrain
- Folds up like a rolling suitcase
Cons
- Very little luggage space
You know that feeling when you're cutting wrapping paper and the scissors start to slip? This is what it feels like when you press the silver cloth. It also comes with a 5-point harness and adjustable footrest for even full recline. The sun canopy is practical, if not the largest I've seen.
An interesting trick is that when this stroller folds up, it becomes a small, rolling suitcase, and the leather-wrapped bumper bar turns into a handle. The main drawback here is that cargo space is minimal. The Silver Cross Jet 3 is best thought of as the roadster of travel strollers.

The best stroller for flying with toddlers
Doona infant car seat and stroller
The best stroller for flying with toddlers
Doona infant car seat and stroller
Strong Points
- multipurpose
- FAA approved
- perfect for toddlers
Cons
- Low load capacity
Traveling with toddlers, and actually doing so. anything I'm going to say it out loud now, but it's even more difficult when it comes to young children. Let's say it kindly. You will need all the help you can get. That's why I like this entry by Doona. It is popular for its versatility, as it can be used both as a child seat and as a stroller. It can also be used with newborns right out of the box (many other strollers need to be adjusted for children under 6 months). Best of all, for the internationals out there, air travel is approved by both US and European authorities.
One problem with this stroller is that it has a maximum weight capacity of 35 pounds, so your child may outgrow it quickly. But it's great to save for a second child or share with friends.

What to consider when buying a travel stroller
Don't just trust what we choose. See how we rated it.
movement When you're pushing one, two, or (godspeed) three or more kids, you want the stroller to make it easy for you. If you are in an urban area, a suitable sidewalk asphalt or epoxy-coated airport floor will suffice. If you're in a suburban area, gravel and dirt can be a problem.
weight You want it to be easy to handle when folded. This is especially true for carry-on strollers.
storage The whole family has essentials: snacks for baby, drinks for dad, and on-board melatonin for mom. A good stroller will give you space for everything.
ease of use Is it difficult to fold? Will it fit in an overhead shelf? Are the carrying straps adequate for its size? Things like this are important.
versatility This is very important if you have more than one child and the older child wants to campaign for stroller benefits. What is the weight limit? Also, it is more comfortable for older children if the stroller can recline.
