Readers learn more about the five developers they think are the best working today, including the creators of Hades 2 and Baldur's Gate 3.
Despite the terrible things that are currently happening in the video game industry, I have to say that this year has been a good year so far with a lot of really good games in terms of production volume. I wanted to stay positive, so rather than cover the ongoing travesty on Xbox, I thought I'd make a list instead. Because I'm a gamer and I like making lists.
This is in my top 5 favorite developers. Because while #1 and he's clearly #2 (at least I can't imagine him not being in someone's top 10), I wasn't sure about the other developers until I thought about it. that.
It was especially difficult because a lot of the “obvious” choices weren't right for me. PlatinumGames used to be a favorite, but they haven't released anything in a long time, and Hideki Kamiya is now gone. And Naughty Dog…I really like The Last of Us and Uncharted, but sometimes they barely seem like games, and Naughty Dog clearly has little interest in gameplay compared to storytelling. there is no.
This is my list. I don't think anyone would totally agree with this, but I'm not sure there's an argument that would convince me that this guy is not one of the five best developers in the world.
5. Super Giant Game
There are a lot of great indie developers out there, but it's hard for them to become famous because many only make a few games, and not all of them are always successful. However, Supergiant has continued to deliver hits since his 2011, including Bastion, Transistor, Pyre, and the amazing Hades. I'm currently playing Hades 2 in early access, and it's as great as ever, but it almost feels like a shame that this is the first ever sequel. The thing about these games is that almost everything about them is perfect. I may not like all of it, but Supergiant's work is confident and polished, leaving little room for criticism.
4. Capcom
It's really nice to see Capcom's recent return to greatness, but they've always been good to an extent. From classic arcade games to early Resident Evil games, and now Monster Hunter, Dragon's Dogma, and more, they're the only developer with the breadth and consistency of games that comes close to my first choice of developers. . They are currently one of the most exciting companies. Not only because of the recent games, but also because we don't know what they're working on next. But I can't wait to find out.
3. Larian Studio
They're basically the opposite of Capcom in that they haven't been around long and only make one type of game. That doesn't really matter, considering Divinity: Original Sin 2 and Baldur's Gate 3 are two of his best games ever made. But what I like most about them is their recent comment that “making games that are actually fun is the most profitable, that's all.” After the recent stupidity at Xbox, I feel like I need to hear what they have to say now more than ever.
2. From Software
With the first three options, I'm immediately interested in anything they make, but I don't take that as a guarantee that I'll play and enjoy it. However, that's all there is to the From game. There's no need to say anything else. Ever since Dark Souls turned the industry on its head, they've been cranking out masterpiece after masterpiece, and there's no reason to imagine they'll ever stop. Elden Ring and Armored Core 6 are both great, and Shadow Of The Erdtree is my most anticipated game of the year. He didn't care about game trends or pleasing everyone, he just made what he wanted to make, and that just happened to be some of the best video games of all time.
1. Nintendo EPD
It almost feels like cheating for Nintendo to be on a list like this. Because no one else comes close to the most amazingly high standards of stability and longevity for any developer ever. I narrowed it down to Entertainment Planning and Development, the studio behind Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, Splatoon, and many of the company's signature games. But in reality, almost everything Nintendo related is great. That shouldn't be the case considering they've been around for so long, but their track record is beyond anything any other company can compete with, and that's likely to continue to be the case.
