All the bosses in Bioshock suck.
There are plenty of standout games that gained notoriety thanks to one or two boring boss fights. Not only was the final showdown between Borderlands and Shadow of Mordor disappointing, but the climax was made even more so by the solidness of the other showdowns. Of course, it's difficult to leave a lasting impression on every enemy at the end of a level, so there are bound to be some not-so-great bosses.
but it's a bit strange every Despite its great title, “Boss'' is terrible. With its seamless gameplay, detailed world, and rich story, it becomes baffling when every major enemy encounter is boring, uncreative, or poorly programmed.
In a situation like this, it's hard to understand how the developers could have dropped the ball even though they were on point in every other aspect. If your game has fluid combat and impressive enemy AI, you should be guaranteed a great attack. But when it came to confronting screen-filling villains and central antagonists, the creators were running out of ideas.
Entries on this list may have stood the test of time, but the boss fights still leave a lot of room for improvement.
10. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
The phenomenal success of Final Fantasy VII led to numerous spin-offs, including the prequel Crisis Core. Originally released on the PSP, it focuses on Zack Fair, a member of the Soldiers who was allied with the traitorous Sephiroth.
Crisis Core may have been pure fan service (and it is), but it has a lot to offer. It features an accessible combat system, great graphics, and expands on the lore and backstories of key characters. On top of that, Crisis Core is surprisingly moving. Even though Zach was doomed from the beginning, no one was ready to see such a heartbreaking death.
But Crisis Core also has its problems.
Bosses are well designed and have inventive tactics, but they're too easy. If Zack performs submissions regularly, he will quickly level up and be able to wipe the floor with the most powerful monsters. By the time Zack maxes out his most devastating spells, the spiky-haired commandos can win the last few scraps in less than a minute.
These additional missions are not required, but are worthwhile as they are the only way to access the most coveted spells. Zack grows strong enough to dominate almost every battle, even if he only completes half of the side quests.
